My Story
Your Candidate for the At-Large Seat #5
My name is Dale Harry Okpik and I am a proud Inupiaq born 1970 in Anchorage, Alaska. My mother was Dorcas Okpik, my Aapa and Aaka were Joshua and Doris Okpik from Barrow, Alaska. My Aunts and Uncles are still living in Utqiagvik formally known as Barrow and they are Harry Okpik, Alec Okpik, Joshua Okpik and Nellie O'Neil. I have a brother whose name is Gary Okpik who lives in Alakanuk, AK as well. I have two children; Dale and Lauren Okpik who reside in California and Oregon.
After living in Anchorage until 1991, I left to pursue my college education in Phoenix, Arizona where I obtained my Associates of Science degree in Architectural Drafting in 1992 from Anthem College. In 1993 I joined the US Army as a Terrain Analyst and during my time served in the Bosnia War and Conflict. I rose to the rank of E5/Sergeant and ended my enlistment in 1998 and now I am a Disabled Combat Veteran.
I have worked for Arctic Slope Regional Corporation (ASRC) in the past with Arctic Slope World Services in Rancho Cordova, CA and served on the ASRC Aerospace Board for a short term. I went back school and earned my Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Info Systems in 2004 from Bellevue University out of Nebraska. I have been in business and worked as a IT Engineer since.
I have owned and operated two separate Information Technology companies in California: Coast Networx, Inc. from 2004 through 2007 and Axiom Info Systems, LLC from 2008 through 2015. I then consulted to multiple businesses scaling from world wide organizations to mom and pop shops all over California. I was recruited by ASRC in February 2017 as the Senior Manager for IT Systems here in the Anchorage office where I reside with my wife Kelsey Okpik.

ASRC Improvement Plan Summary
The Change you are looking for!
I believe that an instrumental change needs to occur with an increase in transparency between the Board and Shareholders however prior to this occurring, Shareholder perceptions need to be understood and reality outlined between what information can be disseminated from the Board to the Shareholder and what cannot be shared.
It is my hope that I can bridge the gap between Shareholders perceptions and the Board Member’s understanding of their concerns as a whole through careful yet detailed dialogue which will hopefully lead to some clarity on our lines of business, future strategy, Shareholder welfare, and most importantly, improving the lines of communication as a whole and where I can act as a liaison between both parties.
Another change I would desire to bring is an increase in Shareholder development which will enrich the lives through a full 360 degree plan that includes education in conjunction with key areas which are identified by our business lines through mentoring and guidance from the leadership on needs of the business. This new process could also provide constant feedback and assessment for each Shareholder willing to be involved as part of a leadership development program designed to increase Leadership positions held by Shareholders.
Positive collaboration between Shareholders and our Executive Leadership can only be accomplished through increased interactive sessions to include Members of the Board. New positions similar to Village Representatives could be initiated with whom their primary duties would be to work with Shareholders on a more intimate level to provide clarity to the Board and Executive Leadership with the needs and desires of Shareholders.
These are a few of my ideas however; if elected to the Board of Directors for the At-Large Seat #5 I will be diligent in my responsibilities to first listen, learn, and identify the areas where I can make the most impact. I will align my understanding of Shareholder concerns, issues and desires and communicate with the Board in an effective manner working toward achieving those identifiable goals and objectives. This can only be accomplished by truly understanding a long term vision and through the building of long term relationships with both the Shareholder and the Members of the Board.
Is my hope that I can bring in a new era of leadership through digital transformation, introduction of new types of business considerations, improving how we collaborate corporate wide with the utilization of technologies that identify gaps through analytics and business use cases. This is why I am running for the ASRC Board of Directors At-Large Seat #5. This a summary of what I would desire to accomplish and why I would love to earn your vote. I am looking into many other areas where we can improve and will work diligently to come up with a well thought out long term plan which encompasses short term goals and objectives as milestone during my Membership on the Board. Why am I running for the Board of Directors for ASRC? That is a great question and my number one answer is: because I truly believe in service to our people, to bring new ideas in hopes of delivering more opportunity to the shareholders, employment, and of course profitability to the corporation as whole. It is with my experience, education and knowledge of technology that I desire to create a synergy that will bolster new ideas toward making our lives better as shareholders.
